PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate editing without being affected by the nonlinearity of a device or equipment by performing the editing by using a sample value of a specific position detection signal which is composed right before or after an information signal and varies in frequency. SOLUTION: For recording, a position detection signal and a music signal are processed by AD conversion and sampling frequencies are divided by four to generate digital signals of channels ch1 to ch4, so that the channels ch1 and ch2, and ch3 and ch4 are individually recorded by a recording and reproducing device. For a merging process, every two channels are reproduced individually and a personal computer 4 generates files 6 and 7 through a filing part 5, reproduces a position signal of the channel ch1 from the file 6 to detect a starting sample point, and then starting sample points of position signals of the respective channels in merging order. The files are merged into one file in the channel order according to the number of relative offset bytes of the files 6 and 7 calculated from the time positions of those four sample points.
