PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unify a coating of cobalt oxide above divalent to improve a coefficient of use by forming a surface of nickel hydroxide by the oxidation-reduction reaction, to be packed in a porous nickel sintered base of a sintered positive plate used with a negative plate, a separator and an alkali electrolyte and prepared by solution treatment. SOLUTION: A process for dipping a Ni-sintered base in a mixed acidic aqueous solution of Ni salt and Co salt, and then dipping the same into an alkali aqueous solution after drying, is repeated until a desired packing amount is abstained, then the Ni-sintered base is dipped in a Co salt aqueous solution, and then dipped in the alkali aqueous solution after drying, and only the active material is immediately charged and discharged by heavy-current at least one time. Here, the oxidation- reduction reaction is generated between Ni oxide and Co salt, whereby the desired Ni positive plate is obtained, the conductivity of the positive active material can be improved, and the capacity is increased by the improvement of a coefficient of use. The surface of a Co-Ni hydroxide solid solution is preferably covered by Cd oxide with above divalent Co oxide, whereby the expansion in charging and discharging can be inhibited, and the life characteristic can be improved. |
