PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for the aging of a magnetic head, in which an aging test can be performed at comparatively low cost and with certainty. SOLUTION: There are provided a driving source 10 is provided, a moving body 12 which holds a magnetic head H1, and a magnetic head H2 so as to be freely detachable. A motion conversion mechanism part 14, by which the magnetic heads H1, H2 are brought into contact with a disk-like magnetic recording medium back and forth by converting the rotating operation of the driving source 10 into the linear back-and-forth motion of the moving body 12 is provided. A guide part 16, which guides the moving body 12 when the moving body 12 performs its linear back-and-forth motion, is provided.
