PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record and reproduce a file, having a file data amount exceeding the storage capacity of removal media, through easy operation. SOLUTION: The file managing device is equipped with a CPU 36 which is mounted with plural removal media and obtains file information on each mounted removal media, a CPU 43 which recognizes one removal medium by using the file information obtained by the CPU 36, a 1st media controller 33 and/or a 2nd media controller 34 which record files on multiple removal media, the 1st media controller 33 and/or a 2nd media controller 34 which reproduces the files from the removal media, and a CPU 36 which controls the 1st media controller 33 and/or 2nd media controller 34 according to the recognition result of the CPU 43 and records and/or reproduces files to and from each of the removal media.
