PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder device capable of controlling thrust of a rod with high accuracy by reducing sliding resistance of the rod. SOLUTION: A rod 3 is inserted in a rod insertion hole 2 of a bearing 1, a projection 3b having a projected bearing area smaller than the cross section of a shaft part 3a is formed on the peripheral surface of a shaft part 3a of the rod 3, a recessed part 4 corresponding to the projection 3b is formed in the rod insertion hole 2 of the bearing 1. Fluid paths for thrust controlling 5, 6 to supply pressurized fluid to the gap between an edge surface in the axial direction of the projection 3b and an edge surface of the recessed part 4 in the axial direction are formed in bearing 1, and a pair of hydrostatic bearings 10, 11 supporting the rod 3 so as not to touch the bearing 1 are formed on both sides of the fluid paths for thrust controlling 5, 6 in the axial direction of the rod. Pressurized fluid is spouted out from the hydrostatic bearings 10, 11 for supporting the rod 3 in a floating condition.
