PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently decrease the gap between the wall surface of a cylinder and a piston, and restrain the quantity of extra oil coming up to a piston ring from a space below the piston. SOLUTION: The piston comprises a base part provided with a piston pin boss part 12 on the lower part of the piston head part 11, and a piston outer peripheral part 13 formed with a skirt part on the lower side of a ring attaching part 14 fitted thereon a piston ring 20, and which is connected thereto the boss part 12 through the intermediary of a stay 16. An annular absorbing ring 17 is inserted in a gap D between the outer periphery of the piston head part 11 and the inner periphery of a ring attaching member 14. The upper part of the skirt part 15 is formed therein with an oil discharge groove 22 extended in a substantially circumferential direction, and communication with a space below the piston at the edge part of the skirt part 15.
