SUBMARINE SOLID CABLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a submarine solid cable capable of bulk power transmission even if used at high temperature with increased voltage. SOLUTION: A conductor 1 is covered with an insulating layer 3 impregnated with insulating oil. The insulating oil is a middle viscous insulating oil having a viscosity of 10 cst or higher and lower than 500 cst at 60 deg.C. The middle viscous insulating oil is impregnated directly into the insulating layer, wherein a low viscous insulating oil need not be previously impregnated into the insulating layer. The length of a portion laid in the depth of the sea water of 50 m or less at both ends out of the length of a cable soaked in the sea water is 5 km or shorter, and the other portion is laid in the sea water in the depth of more than 50 m.
