PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sample cartridge for high temperatures capable of being used approximately at temperatures of 1600 deg.C or more, containing the high steam pressure of a sample, being formed lightly in weight, and being relatively easily and inexpensively manufactured. SOLUTION: This cartridge comprises an airtight container 12 made of a high melting metal which is not fused within operating temperature limits and in which an experiment sample is sealed inside; and an outside cartridge 14 made of a carbon-based material of a smaller thermal expansion ratio than that of the high melting metal to surround the airtight container 12 at a predetermined intervalδ, and to suppress the expansion of the airtight container 12 within the operating temperature limits. The carbon-based material is graphite or pyro-carbon, and the high-melting metal is tantalum, a niobium-based alloy, or rhenium. The peripheral surface of the airtight container 12 comes into close contact with the inner surface of the outside cartridge 14 on the high- temperature side within the operating temperature limits.
