PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting the overlap of magnetic plate material, capable of simplifying a detecting process and shortening a process time. SOLUTION: This detecting device comprises a sensor 5 consisting of a core 51 having a coil 52 wound thereon, and being attracted to a magnetic material to be measured by the excitation of the coil, and a Hole element 53 mounted on a passage of a magnetic flux of the core, a storing means 10 for storing the data on the output voltage of the Hole element in the excitation of the coil prepared in advance corresponding to a thickness of a plate material 4 of the magnetic material to be measured, and a voltage value to be added thereto, and a control means 9 for determining the data having a value of the output voltage of the Hole element obtained by the excitation of the coil of the sensor, among the data in reference to the data of the storing means, obtaining the voltage value to be added, determined on the basis of the data, and obtaining a detecting signal corresponding to a thickness of the plate material to be measured by executing the correction by adding the voltage value to be added, to the output voltage of the Hole element.
