摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To pick up an image so that the influence of a smear is weak and to provide an image signal whose dynamic range is appropriately enlarged. SOLUTION: In an exposure time T starting from time t4 when the sweep-out of a charge to an image pickup element is terminated, a charge which is photoelectrically converted in a time T1 to time t5 is shifted to a vertical transfer path in response to a reading pulse supplied at time t5 and the pixel signal (S1) is outputted from the image pickup element in a signal output period S1. A charge which is continuously generated in a time T2 shorter than the time T1 responds to the reading pulse supplied at the time of a signal output period S2 from time t9 and the pixel signal (S2) is outputted from the image pickup element 16. The levels of the pixel signals are corrected by a correction coefficient decided in accordance with the saturation state of the pixel signal (S1) and an exposure quantity ratio based on an image-picked up image. The corrected pixel signals (S1) and (S2) are synthesized and outputted.
