An insulating composite material has a sheet of foamed backed metal applied to one or both surfaces of a cotton-like layer of non-woven polyester fibres using a cold solvent based adhesive. An Independent claim is included for the manufacturing a material as above includes applying glue to the metallic sheet(s) so that solvent evaporates off into the air and then applying the sheet(s) to the fibrous layer using rollers. Solvent evaporation is enhanced by ventilation. The roller apply a pressure of 2 - 7 Kg/m<2>. Adhesive is applied at a rate of 20 g/m<2>.
