PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize crosstalk and improve a track width(TW) precision by forming reverse azimuth sections of respective inner cores that form a pair of magnetic head chips so as to be orthogonal to a sliding direction of a magnetic tape. SOLUTION: A pair of magnetic head chips having gap azimuth angles different from each other are disposed on a head base, so that recording and reproducing are simultaneously performed for a recording medium. In this case, reverse azimuth sections of respective inner cores that form the pair of magnetic head chips are formed to be orthogonal to a sliding direction of a magnetic tape. In addition, an H-shaped groove is further provided so that an angle of the H-shaped groove in the vicinity of a track width portion of the pair of magnetic head chips is formed to be at 0 deg., while an angle of the H-shaped groove at positions away from the track width section is formed to be in the range from 0 deg. to 19 deg. both inclusive or in the range from 41 deg. to 79 deg. both inclusive. Since the angle of the H-shaped groove in the vicinity of the track width section is at 0 deg., a TW precision can be improved, and crosstalk can be optimized since the angle of the II-shaped groove at positions away from the track width section is in the range from 0 deg. to 19 deg. both inclusive or in the range from 41 deg. to 79 deg. both inclusive.
