PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely discriminate a vehicle type with simple constitution. SOLUTION: At a place that a vehicle 1 passes through, a 1st irradiation part 3 which irradiates the vehicle 1 with 1st detection light 2 from above and a 2nd irradiation part 5 which irradiates a vehicle side face 11 with 2nd detection light are provided at a specific distance from each other along the vehicle length, and a vehicle type discrimination part for discriminating a vehicle type according to signals from the 1st irradiation part 3 and 2nd irradiation part 5 is provided to obtain the simple constitution. The vehicle type of the vehicle 1 can be discriminated, the constitution of the whole device is simplified, and the cost is lowered to facilitate the maintenance.
