PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a moisture measuring apparatus which is provided at a dryer used to dry an object to be treated, by using microwaves and by which the initial moisture weight and the moisture of the object to be treated can be measured on-line and in a noncontact manner. SOLUTION: Microwaves which are generated by a mocrowave oscillator 51 are guided into a dryer through a waveguide 52, so as to be directed at an object to be heated and dried. Microwave incident power which is generated by the microwave oscillator 51 and microwave reflected power which is reflected by the object to be treated so as to be returned through the inside of the waveguide 52 are measured by a power monitor 55. A computing device 503 computes and processes the relationship between the microwave incident power and the microwave reflected power. Thereby, the initial moisture weight of the object to be treated, before being treated and the moisture of the object to be treated, which is heated and dried are found. That is to say, by making use of a phenomenon where the microwave reflected power increases as the moisture of the object to be treated is lowered when the microwave incident power is kept constant, the initial moisture weight and the moisture are estimated and computed.
