PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device capable of suppressing useless power consumption in an external output system (or including an external input system) of video signals. SOLUTION: Video signal inputted from an input terminal group Pin of an external input system 1 is inputted to an operational amplifier OP1, and the video signal passing through the amplifier OP1 is supplied also to an operational amplifier OP2 composing an external power output system 2. The video output signal of the operational amplifier OP2 are supplied to an output terminal group Pout through output resisters R3. A controller A detects a potential difference across both ends of the resister R3 by the signal lines L1, L2 connected to both ends of the output resistance R3. The controller A outputs 'H' to the signal line L3 when there is no potential difference across the both ends. The operational amplifier OP2 which receives the signal 'H' to its enable terminal stops operating and becomes a non-electric power consumption state.
