PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably peel each label from the beltlike base paper of a label strip and to prevent the tear of the base paper from a break in the base paper in the peeling by forming slits in the base paper along part of the edges of etch label when a plurality of labels are temporarily stuck to the beltlike base paper at prescribed intervals to obtain the label strip. SOLUTION: When labels 3 are temporarily stuck to beltlike base paper 8 at prescribed intervals to obtain a label strip 1a, perforated line-shaped slits 9 are formed in the base paper 8 along the front edge 3a of each of the labels 3 in the peeling direction of the labels (F1 direction). The length of the slits 9 are arbitrarily determined but the slits 9 must be formed in such a way that the beltlike ground paper 8 is made less liable to tear in the peeling of the label chips 3. Thus the length of the slits 9 is appropriately 1-5 mm and non-slit parts 9a are preferably made longer than the slits 9.
