PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten accuracy in the measurement of point loading strength and to simplify measurement. SOLUTION: In this loading test device or measuring method, a specimen 2 is sandwiched between a pair of pointer 34 and 35 to measure the diameter of the specimen 2. The pointers 34 and 35 are moved so as to provide a uniform loading speed for the specimen 2 to measure a point loading load at the time when the specimen 2 is broken. Point loading strength is computed from the diameter of the specimen 2 and the point load. As it is possible to perform test easily in a short time at the site of specimen collection during the execution of construction work and to immediately reflect test results without delay in the work, it is possible to improve work efficiency. In addition, by automatically measuring the diameter of a specimen and a breaking load, it is possible to improve measurement accuracy. By maintaining a constant loading speed and reducing variations in loading strength to be obtained, it is possible to obtain highly reliable test results.
