摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate sticking phenomenon to improve the sliding characteristic by specifying air permeating quantity of a carbon-made piston ring. SOLUTION: This carbon-made piston ring has an air permeating quantity of 5 cc/cm2.min or less. As the carbon material, among carbon sliding materials used for bearing, seal and the like, a compact is preferably used. For example, a carbon material obtained by mixing a proper quantity of a binder such as coal tar, tar pitch or the like to an aggregate-regulated in grain size such as coke powder, graphite powder, carbon black or the like followed by heat kneading, pulverization, molding and baking can be used. The binder is preferably used, for example, in 70-150 pts.wt to 100 pts.wt. of the aggregate. In the manufacture of the carbon material, the heat kneading can be generally performed by heating and kneading each material of the aggregate and the binder preferably at 180-300 deg.C by use of a twin arm kneader.
