PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for coating a cleaning blade with lubricant by which the blade is prevented from being turned up, electrifying memory is prevented from occurring on an OPC drum, and image defect is prevented from occurring. SOLUTION: This is the method for coating the cleaning blade removing an adhering material adhering to the surface of an image carrier with the lubricant by performing relatively positional moving with the image carrier in a condition where the cleaning blade abuts on the image carrier temporarily carrying a toner image on the surface till the toner image is transferred. At this time, the lubricant is constituted of a material electrifying the surface of the image carrier within the range of±100 V by friction with the image carrier, and a lubricant layer 2 is formed by coating the blade base material 1 of the cleaning blade 3 with a substance obtained by dispersing the lubricant in a solvent which does not quite evaporate till the finish of coating from the stait of coating by a sponge roller 4, etc.
