PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processor and a printer or the like with which data transmission/reception from another external connecting interface can be continuously performed even when abnormality occurs in one part of plural external connecting interfaces. SOLUTION: When abnormality related to an external connecting interface part 14 is detected while print data are not received, the external connecting interface, where the abnormality occurs, is confirmed. Then, the detection of the abnormality and a message are reported only to an external connector connected to the external connecting interface, where the abnormality occurs, and only the transmission/reception of data to the relevant external connector is allowed in a stopped state.
