PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disable ID information characteristic of a recording medium to be rewritten and to prevent an illegal copy from being taken by a device other than a regularly licensed device by recording the ID information in a servo zone of the recording medium. SOLUTION: As an example, the characteristic ID information 309 is recorded in an area where address data of a track 0 is originally recorded in a servo #1 servo zone of a magnetic disk having data zones and servo zones arranged by turns. When the servo area is recorded, a read program which is so generated as to be able to discriminate the ID information performs a reproducing process. After the magnetic medium having the characteristic ID information 309 recorded is loaded in a magnetic disk drive, etc., new ID recording, rewriting, erasure, etc., are disabled and a system which distributes information to a specific number of recipients through a network confirms individual ID information at the time of recording to surely prevent an illegal copy from being taken. |
