PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser module of higher reliability, capable of being operated with high optical output. SOLUTION: This semiconductor laser module has a semiconductor laser element 13, a single mode optical fiber 17 for receiving the light emitted from the semiconductor laser element 13, and an optical coupling means 15 mounted between the semiconductor laser element 13 and the single mode optical fiber 17 for optically coupling the laser beam with the single mode optical fiber 17, and the single mode optical fiber 17 has a core 17a, a first clad 17b formed around the core 17a and having the refraction factor smaller than that of the core, and a coating layer 17c formed around the first clad 17b and having the refraction factor smaller than that of the first clad 17b.
