PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure efficient and stabilized preparation by providing a liquid pool part, and a needle emerging retractively for the liquid pool part and applying a specified quantity of solution in the liquid pool part at a time onto a substrate, thereby eliminating frequency supplement of solution. SOLUTION: An apparatus for preparing a microarray by arranging a larger number of biological samples, e.g. fragments of DNA, onto a substrate comprises a member 52 for a pooling solution 53 which is fed to the substrate. The liquid pool member 52 is formed into a tapered tube containing a needle 51 retractively through an opening 52a. The needle 51 is contained in the liquid pool member 52, when a movable member 34 is positioned above. When the movable member 34 is driven downward by a drive means 32, the needle 51 descends along with the liquid pool member 52 until the lower end of an interlocked movable member 33 abuts against a regulating member 41, so that the liquid pool member 52 stops and only the needle 51 descends and the solution is spotted, when the forward end of the needle 51 touches the substrate.
