PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move a linear guide unit smoothly even when it is used with a vertically moving part, prevent load concentration on only a specific ball even if the stroke is short, and make the linear guide unit lightweight and compact. SOLUTION: This linear guide unit carries a linear guide shaft 15 on a body block 10. A moving element movable along the guide shaft 15 is partly fitted thereon. Linear ball bearings 20a and 20b are inserted in bearing portions. The bushing of each linear ball bearing 20a, 20b consists of a material having PTFE as the principal component. A plurality of cages 25 are axially arrayed between each bushing and the guide shaft 15 so as to enclose the guide shaft 15 round which bearing balls 24 are retained for rolling contact with both bushing and guide shaft 15. Weak compression springs 30a and 30b are disposed between the moving element and the body block 10 to support the moving element in a middle position through the stroke thereof.
