The level detector consists of a float (16) with a density between that of the sludge in the bottom of a septic tank and the liquid above it. The float, made in one piece or from two pieces screwed or clipped together, is located inside a guide cage (17) made from at least three rods (18). It can be ellipsoid, spherical, cylindrical or parallelepiped in shape and contains a signal emitter (20), e.g. magnetic, interacting with a receiver (30) located at least partly inside the tank and able to light an indicator lamp or diode.
