PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cipher data deciphering and reproducing system with which measures against the illegal copy or unsuitable use of digital contents can be taken, the utilization charge of digital contents can be surely collected and further an economical system can be constructed as well. SOLUTION: Concerning the cipher data deciphering and reproducing system for deciphering and reproducing cipher data purchased in a retail shop 40, where retail shop equipment 4 is installed, through a reproducing device (decoder) 1A, this system is composed of the retail shop equipment 4, a user IC card 2, a data storage medium 3 and the reproducing device 1A, the retail shop equipment 4 is provided with an enciphering part 4a for respectively preparing cryptographic key information, for which key information is enciphered while using card specification information provided on the user IC card 2, and cipher data for which data to be sold while using this cryptographic key information are enciphered, the user IC card 2 is provided with a cryptographic key information storage part 2b for storing the cryptographic key information and a deciphering part 2c for deciphering the enciphered key information, the data storage medium 3 is provided with a cipher data storage part 3a for storing the cipher data and the reproducing device 1 is provided with a deciphering part 13b for deciphering the cipher data. |
