A coating composition which comprises: at least one member selected from the group consisting of organosilanes represented by the general formula (R<1>)nSi(OR<2>)4-n (wherein R<1> represents a C1-15 monovalent organic group, and when two R<1>s are present, then they are the same or different; R<2>s are the same or different and each represents C1-5 alkyl, C1-6 acyl, or phenyl; and n is an integer of 0 to 2), hydrolyzates of the organosilanes, and condensates of the organosilanes; and fine particles of and/or a sol of a metal oxide containing titanium, zirconium, and tin metals. It optionally further contains a siloxane oligomer having SiO bonds and a weight-average molecular weight of 300 to 100,000. The coating composition gives an organosilane coating material which has excellent storage stability and forms a coating film excellent in appearance, adhesion, weatherability, etc., having high hardness and ultraviolet-absorbing ability, and capable of preventing an organic primer or a substrate from deteriorating.
