The second holding portion of the second tray moves above the first holding portion of the first tray. The second tray further includes a discharged sheet receiving portion for receiving the sheet discharged by the discharge roller. The second tray including the discharged sheet receiving portion pivots relative to the first tray.

1. A sheet feed device comprising:
a first tray comprising a first holding portion for holding a sheet; a second tray comprising a cam and a second holding portion for holding a sheet, and configured to move between a first position and a second position relative to the first tray, the second holding portion being above the first holding portion, and the second position being upstream from the first position in a sheet feed direction; a sheet feeder comprising a feed roller and a cam follower, and configured to feed a sheet selectively from the first tray and the second tray in the sheet feed direction; and a frame disposed above the second holding portion of the second tray and defining an accommodating space; wherein the feed roller of the sheet feeder is configured to be in a first roller position when the second tray is in the first position and to be in a second roller position when the second tray is in the second position, the feed roller in the first roller position contacting the second holding portion of the second tray, and the feed roller in the second roller position contacting the first holding portion of the first tray, and wherein the cam follower of the sheet feeder is configured to, when the second tray moves from the second position to a third position which is between the first position and the second position, follow the cam of the second tray such that the feed roller moves to a third roller position in which the feed roller is separated from the first holding portion and the second holding portion and in which at least a portion of the feed roller is accommodated in the accommodating space.
