The invention relates to a catheter used for ablating biological, especially animal or human tissue, preferably used for ablating human myocardial tissue. The inventive catheter comprises at least one ablation or mapping electrode. The aim of the invention is to improve the recording of EKG signals during catheter ablation and, in particular, the quality of the recorded EKG signals in so far as to enable medical statements to be made with regard to cardiac action. To this end, the at least one ablation or mapping electrode comprises a reduced number of electrical noise centers. The invention also relates to methods and devices with which conventional catheters can be processed in such a way that these noise centers are reduced.
