PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy by preventing as much as possible unwanted pseudo-signals from being superposed on a magnetic distribution. SOLUTION: A scanning squid microscope is provided with a laser light application means 20 for applying a laser beam to an observation target W retained at a stage 10, and supplying an excitation energy to the observation target W, a laser light application position traveling means 40 for relatively moving the position of the observation target W for an application point P on the observation target W of the laser beam, a squid magnetic field detection means 50 for detecting the change in a weak magnetic field being induced from the observation target W by the applied laser beam, while being equipped with a superconducting pickup coil 51 and a squid 52, and a control part 60 with an imaging means 62 for displaying the state of the observation target W as an image based on a detection result from the squid magnetic field detection means 50, thus fixing the relative positions of the application point P of the laser beam being applied from the laser beam application means 20 and the pickup coil 51 of the squid magnetic field detection means 50.
