<p>The present invention relates to a light-weight hand-held striking tool, in particular a claw hammer, commonly used as third-class levers used to provide a striking force to accomplish tasks such as driving a nail into a piece of wood, bending or forming metal, breaking a rock, and other similar tasks. The hammer (11) has a head (13) made of titanium, and the head has an eye (15) for accommodating a handle (17) which may be made of a number of materials such as wood or a polymer.
