<p>Random polarized lights radiated from first and second light sources (101, 102) of a polarized light illuminator (1) are separated in direction into two polarized lights by a polarized light separating/combining element (201), and secondary light source images shifted in the x direction are formed, making the polarization directions the same. Two or more of first to third light-collecting mirror plates (301, 302, 303) are arranged generally parallel to and apart from the center axis of the polarized light separating/combining element (201) in such a way that the secondary light source images formed by the z-polarized lights (lights the polarization directions of which are parallel to the z direction) from the first and second light sources (101, 102) are superposed on each other and the secondary light source images formed by the x-polarized lights (lights the polarization directions of which are parallel to the x direction) from the light sources (101, 102) are superposed on each other.</p> |
