<p>A device for the treatment of an emulsion, particularly an emulsion comprising water droplets in oil, comprising a first component and a second component which have different polarity properties, the device comprising a coalescer medium (5) arranged in contact with the emulsion in order to promote a separation of the first component from the second component, the coalescer medium being generally transparent to electromagnetic radiation. At least where the coalescer medium (5) is in direct contact with the emulsion, the coalescer medium (5) has such polarity properties that it attracts the first component substantially more than it attracts the second component.</p> |
