A method for applying self-adhesive sheet materials to substrates, in which a liquid to pasty adhesion-reducer (I) is applied to the adhesive side of the sheet and/or to the substrate surface before the adhesive material is pressed onto the substrate. An Independent claim is also included for a kit for use in the above process, comprising a container filled with (I) for application as above.
