Gain control of the variable resistor 20 and the variable power amplifier 22 is performed for controlling transmission power of the radio communication device so that detection power detected in a first transmission power detection section 26 and detection power detected in a second transmission power detection section 27 are made equal by a variable power amplification control section 31. At this time, when the detection power difference becomes zero, the variable resistor 20 and the power amplifier 21 are switched off under the control of a switch control section 29 for prolonging the time period over which power supply is stopped.
