PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable determining of the advisability of performing a process to switch an emulating according to assigned emulation starting conditions. SOLUTION: In the printing device which is capable of printing through a plurality of emulations and assigning conditions for starting an emulation for printing process by an emulation switching command for switching an emulation and starting the emulation to perform printing, CPU 2 decides whether the conditions, for starting the emulation, assigned by the emulation switching command received are the same as those for starting an emulation which is presently active.
