PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restore information held in a memory without replacing a non- volatile memory loaded after a substrate is replaced when replacing a control substrate of a printer. SOLUTION: Information intrinsic to each printing job and operation related information intrinsic to the machine, occurred by input from a control panel (not shown in the figure) and sent through a panel I/F7 on a printer control substrate are written into a non-volatile memory 6 with a CPU 1. After that, the content of stored data in the non-volatile memory 6 after written is written to a non-volatile memory on an engine control substrate (not shown in the figure) through an engine I/F5. After written, all the data in the non-volatile memory on the engine control substrate is written to the non-volatile memory 6 of the printer control substrate received through the engine I/F5, both control substrates mutually store data and finish backup.
