PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject tetrakis(dialkoxysilyl)benzene having hydrogen and an alkoxy group on the silicon atom as substituents, useful as a monomer for synthesis of a silicone including polymer usable as a heat resistant material and a light emitting/photoelectric exchange materials. SOLUTION: This compound is s tetrakis(dialkoxysilyl)benzene of formula I (R is an alkyl), e.g. 1,2,4,5-tetrakis[bis(2,2-dimethyl-propyloxy)silyl]benzene. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reacting a tetrakis[bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyloxy)silyl]benzene of formula II e.g. 1,2,4,5-tetrakis[bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyloxy)silyl]benzene} with an alcohol of formula III (e.g. neopentyl alcohol) in the presence of a base (organic amines are preferred). The compound of formula I is useful as raw materials for heat resistant silicone containing polymer and raw material of organic/inorganic composite crosslinking material.
