WORK HOLDING METHOD AND ITS DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce 'sag' and 'elongation' often found on a thin sheet-type work by fixing at least a set of opposite ends of a work in a state that a surface to be worked of the work is vertically kept, and holding the work while vertically extending the surface to be worked. SOLUTION: A work supply stage 16 is totally accomodated in a movable stage 17, and the movable stage 17 is moved to a position to hold upper and lower ends of a work over its width. An upper opening and closing cylinder 14 is operated at the position to hold an upper end of the work 11 by an upper clip member 12, and then the suction by a vacuum pump is stopped to release the suction of the work 11 to the work supply stage 16. Here, the work 11 is substantially vertically extended while keeping the flatness by the action of gravity. Then a lower opening and closing cylinder 15 is operated to hold the work 11 by a lower clip member 13 to fix the work 11.
