PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely polish a fine concave spherical surface by pressing a steel ball to a material to be polished, and applying the relative rotational motion to the material to be polished and the steel ball while supplying an abrasive between the material to be polished and the steel ball. SOLUTION: A glass molding die 11 is rotated and driven through a rotational driving mechanism 12 while supplying an abrasive (abrasive fluid) between a concave spherical surface 11a of the glass molding die 11 and a steel ball 24, and a steel ball holder 20 is reciprocation oscillated through a reciprocating oscillator 26. Whereby the steel ball holder 20 is rotated by the torque of the glass molding die 11, and the polishing is executed in a state that the steel ball 23 is pressed to the concave spherical surface 11a of the glass molding die 11. The steel ball 23 is selectively used from commercial ball bearings (steel ball, cemented carbide ball) corresponding to a diameter of the concave spherical surface 11a. A plurality of steel ball holding tubes 22 respectively having steel ball projection holes 22a of various sizes, are prepared to be selectively used corresponding to the diameter of the steel ball 24.
