PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress the adhesion of slime of a cooling water system by adding an oxidizable antibacterial agent and an isothioazolone compd. or the oxidizable antibacterial agent, the isothiazolone compd. and a bromonitro compd. to the cooling water system. SOLUTION: A slime control agent contains an oxidizable antibacterial agent, an isothiazolone compd. and, if desired, a bromonitro compd. Herein, there is no special restriction as the oxidizable antibacterial agent and one kind of the oxidizable antibacterial agent can be used alone and two or more kinds of oxidizable antibacterial agents can be used in combination. There is no special restriction in a method for adding the oxidizable antibacterial agent and, for example, the oxidazable antibacterial agent can be injected in a cooling water system continuously or intermittently. The addition amt. of the oxidizable antibacterial agent is not especially restricted and can be appropriately selected corresponding to the water quality and use of the cooling water system and is pref. 1μm/1-10 mg/l as residual concn. in usual.
