PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high-speed weaving of a high-quality glass cloth while suppressing the troubles of fluffing of fiber and falling-off of starch powder by using a modified starch forming a film having a specific elongation as a film-forming agent and coating a glass filament with the film-forming agent together with a lubricant, a surfactant, a cationic softener, etc. SOLUTION: Glass fibers are protected with a sizing agent, collected to a strand and subjected to twisting, warping and weaving to obtain a glass cloth. The sizing agent is composed of a film-forming agent, a lubricant, a surfactant, a cationic softener, etc., and effective for protecting glass filaments and improving the processability. A modified starch forming a film having an elongation of 7-12%, preferably 7.5-11% or thereabout, especially 8-10% or thereabout is used as the film-forming agent of the sizing agent. The elongation of the modified starch can be controlled by properly combining various processing factors such as the characteristics of natural starch, decomposition, oxidation, acid-treatment, esterification, etherification and crosslinking. Corn starch, etc., can be used as the modified starch.
