PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve element for a water faucet capable of preventing a strainer for catching foreign matters contained in fluid from being clogged therewith easily. SOLUTION: This valve element for a water faucet is brought into contact with or separated from a valve seat 4 of a partition wall 2 separating a water inlet chamber 5 from a water drain chamber 6 of a water faucet 1 so as to open and close a communication hole 3. The valve element 12 fixes a guide 16 passing through the communication hole 3 to the underside of a packing 13 brought into contact with or separated from the valve seat 4, and holds a plurality of strainers 19 and 20 with having different meshes from each other on the guide 16 at intervals in vertical direction. The guide 16 holds the second strainer 20 with smaller mesh on the downstream side of the first strainer 19 with larger mesh.
