PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion joint having a large effective telescoping amount relative to a natural length. SOLUTION: This expansion joint comprises at least a joint main body 1 and a tabular mounting material 2 disposed on the upper side of the joint main body 1. The joint main body 1 further comprises a sliding plate 10, a plurality of load support members 11 placed on the sliding plate 10 in parallel with each other and corrugated in plan view, and elastic deformation members 12 disposed between the load support members 11 and 11 adjacent to each other. When a force acts in a direction that the load support members 11 and 11 are moved closely to each other, one side projected part 11a of the load support members 11 and 11 adjacent to each other is fitted into the other side recessed part 11b against an elastic returning force of the elastic deformation member 12.
