PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve wet gripping properties and moldability while maintaining rolling resistance of a tire by admixing silica, a silane coupling agent and a specific organopolysiloxane, each in a specific amount, with a specific rubber component. SOLUTION: This tread rubber composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of a rubber component comprising 25-95 wt.% of a diene-based rubber and 75-5 wt.% of a halogenated butyl rubber and/or a halogenated product of an isobutylene/p- methyl styrene copolymer, 40-150 pts.wt., based on 100 pts.wt. of the rubber component, of silica, 1-15 wt.%, based on the silica, of a silane coupling agent and 1-15 wt.%, based on the silica, of an organopolysiloxane of the formula: (SiO2)aX2(a+1). In the formula, X is O1/2[(CH3)2SiO]bR1 or O1/2R1; X's can be the same or different and at least one X is O1/2[(CH3)2SiO]bR1; R1 is H or a 1-5C monovalent hydrocarbyl group; (b) is an integer of 1-100; and (a) is an integer of 1-20.
