PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a front end rigid part of an insertion part front end so as to increase its bore while maintaining its outside diameter. SOLUTION: The endoscope is composed of a light guide 20 as an illumination optical system, an image pickup unit 30 having an objective lens system as an objective optical system and a partition 50a watertightly constituting the front end constitution part 40 holding these members. The front end rigid part 50 is constituted by exposing at least the front side of a first joint 51 as the foremost joint of a curving part 11 to the outside and joining and fixing the joint to the front end constitution part 40. As a result, the front end constitution part 40 and the plural joint groups 6 constituting the curving part 11 may be adhered and fixed without fixation by adhesives, etc. Since the increase in thickness in the fixing part of the front end constitution part 40 and the first joint 51 of the curving part 11 does to occur, the bore of the front end rigid part 50 may be made larger while the outside diameter of the front end rigid part 50 is maintained.
