PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having perfluoroalkyl group and useful as an important intermediate for various kinds of organic compounds and polymers. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [Rf1 to Rf3 are each 1-10C perfluoroalkyl or Rf2 and Rf3 may mutually bonded with binding C to form a 3-8C fluorocycloalkyl]], e.g. 2,2-bis(4-hydroxy-3-nitro-5- trifluoromethylphenyl)hexafluoropropane. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting a compound of formula II (X is Br or I) to perfluoroalkylation reaction, preferably by using a perfluoroalkyltrialkylsilane (e.g. trifluoromethyltrimethylsilane), a fluoride (e.g. lithium fluoride) and a copper reagent (e.g. cuprous chloride), preferably using N,N-dimethylformamide, etc., as a reaction solvent at 0-150 deg.C.
