PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hob machine capable of preventing a drop of the machining accuracy resulting from a thermal distortion of a processing shaft to support a work through sufficient cooling from inside the shaft, precluding attachment of chip to the holding parts of the shaft when the work is to be mounted in and removed from the holding parts, and excluding the risk that eventually attached chip generates misalignment of work supporting to result in a drop of the machining accuracy. SOLUTION: A processing shaft 15 to support a work 16 is composed of a first shaft segment 21 and a second shaft segment 22. Holding parts 21b and 22b for holding the work 16 pinchedly are provided at the opposing ends of these shaft segments 21 and 22. Inside the shaft 15, air passages 23 and 24 are formed for cooling the shaft 15 from its inside, and are left open confronting the holding parts 21b and 22b of the two shaft segments 21 and 22.
