<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify connection of a handrail by forming a joint element formed of a thin plate metal, which is comprised of an attachment piece to be fixed to a connected body, and an attaching piece to handrail to be folded at a predetermined angle and fixed onto a rear surface of the handrail. SOLUTION: A joint element 1a in the form of a stainless rectangular thin plate or the like is provided, which is folded in two pieces along a longitudinal center line at a predetermined angle. One of the folded pieces is made into an attached-to newel post piece 3 to be fixed onto an upper end face of a newel post 5, and the other piece is made into an attached-to handrail piece 2 to be fixed onto a rear surface of a handrail 4a. Next, the attached-to newel post piece 3 is arranged on a fillet member 51 connected to the upper end face of the newel post 5, and a nail N is inserted and fixed into a screw hole 31 formed in the attached-to newel post piece 3. Further, the handrail 4a is arranged so that a groove 41a in the rear surface of the handrail 4a is fitted on the attached-to handrail piece 2, and a nail N is inserted and fixed into a screw hole 21, to thereby connect the handrail 4a to the newel post 5. Thus, the workability of the handrail can be improved.</p> |
