SOLUTION: In this detector, a detection area E having a detection center R within an area surrounded by a lower end edge BL of a pad face 32 in an acceleration pedal 3, a left side edge line SL of the pad face 32, a longitudinal center line CL of the pad face 32, and a cabin floor is set in a vehicle with a brake pedal 4 juxtaposed in a left side of the acceleration pedal 3. It is determined that a driver D's foot 1 is positioned on the acceleration pedal 3, when a body exists within the detection area E.
